After the file-sharing collaboration 'Doze Ruínas', double bass player Gonçalo Almeida and knob twidler Rutger Zuydervelt (alias Machinefabriek) continued their affair in real life. Their first concert was a hopeful start, but the second, February 25th 2016 at Koffie & Ambacht in Rotterdam, was a real 'hit'. The intimate setting and relaxed atmosphere seemed to work wonders for the duo. The improvised 30 minute set flowed organically, with Gonçalo looping his own playing, and Rutger adding electronic touches and further processing the sound of the double bass. The recording of the gig was edited to 20 minutes, and is presented now as 'Jangada', released on a 3-inch cdr and as a download by Cylinder Recordings.
I go to sleep listening to this song, and I wake up in a beautiful dream state in the morning. It also helps me focus while I write and work. I was heartbroken when this song disappeared on Spotify, so the hunt began. I must say, this song was very difficult to find, but all the more rewarding when I found it. Jonathan Tilley
